Chapter 1439

"This is..."

Their eyes flickered with surprise. "Dr. Rivers, did you handle this case?" They were absolutely floored.

"How did you cup with such a brilliant solution? It's like making a genius move in chess!" an older

gentleman marveled. "When we heard you talking about the symptoms over the phone, we were worried you

might misdiagnose and go for intubation, which could've

suffocated the patient."

They were so concerned, they rushed over immediately.

Dr. Rivers blushed a little, feeling a bit embarrassed. She had indeed tried intubation earlier...

It was that young lady who had saved the patient.

"Dr. Rivers, tell us, how did you pull it off?" A few of the older gentlemen gathered around her, looking at her like

she was a hidden gem. They realized they'd underestimated this young doctor before. Her skills were catching

up to theirs.

The more they praised her, the more Dr. Rivers felt guilty. She wasn't the one who saved the patient. But she

was too shy to admit it, so she just mumbled, "I guess | was just lucky. You don't have to praiseso much."

"You're being too modest. This isn't luck; it's skill! Dr. Shepherd mentioned that the brilliant Dr. Hawke is arriving

today, and we'll introduce you to her!" The older gentlemen, who loved nurturing talent, said cheerfully. "Your

talent's always been great. With Dr. Hawke's guidance, your skills will soar to new heights."

Dr. Rivers felt her heart skip a beat. Dr. Shepherd had name-dropped Dr. Hawke in front of them, showing just

how much he valued her. If she could make a good impression on Dr. Hawke...

"Thank you for the compliments," Dr. Rivers smiled. "I'm just not that talented. Dr. Hawke might not find me

impressive."

She worried they might ask about the surgery details, knowing she wasn't the one who actually did it. Naturally,

she wouldn't have any answers.

Luckily, before they could press further, Dr. Shepherd's call cthrough.

Dr. Shepherd informed them that Dr. Hawke had arrived and asked them to cto his office immediately.

Over the past few days, Dr.

Shepherd had been singing Dr.

Hawke's praises, piquing their. interest. Now that she was here,

they were buzzing with excitement!

"Con, let's go meet her," an elderly gentleman with glasses said eagerly. "Let's see what this Dr. Hawke

looks like!"

Dr. Shepherd had been talking her up like she was the best thing since sliced bread! And rumor had it, she was

quite young!

They hurried out, with Dr. Rivers

tagging along, feeling both nervous and excited. She couldn't help but glance around for Fiona on the way.

But Fiona was nowhere to be seen.

She let out a sigh of relief.

That girl must've left the hospital already.

Taking credit for her work, while a bit sneaky, was beneficial for both of them. This achievement wouldn't mean

much to Fiona, but it could catapult Dr. Rivers' career, making her efforts in saving a life worthwhile.

Thinking this way, Dr. Rivers felt her conscience lighten.

Meanwhile, in Dr. Shepherd's office, Fiona was lounging on a small sofa, sipping tea.

The tea was pretty awful.

"How's the tea, Ms. Fiona? It's top-notch, right? I've had it for years!" Dr. Shepherd brought up the wrong topic.

Fiona shot him a dry look. "It's dreadful. Not even close to a milkshake."

Dr. Shepherd: "..."
