Chapter 361: Cold shoulder...
Davis nodded in agreement, for him, the proof of her identity as Santiago should go a long way to identify her relationship with Nora. "Grandpa," he called just as Bella tapped lightly on the door and pulled it open.
Davis swallowed the word that cto the tip of his tongue as he lifted his gaze to meet hers as she stood at the door. "Are you through with the discharge?" "Yes," several doctors cin from behind her. A quick checkup was done on Elder Allen.
While the doctors were checking on Elder Allen, Davis' phone dinged with a notification. As he opened the message, his brows furrowed at the content of the message.
Noting the change in his countenance, Jessica stared at him. "What happened?" He glanced around the ward, and there were other people around. "We'll talk later." Jessica didn't need him to explain further.
Within a short time, Davis was done packing Elder Allen's items in the ward. They all left the ward, boarded the elevator and stepped out as it dinged its arrival to the ground floor, the guards supported Elder Allen as they left the hospital lobby.
The night sky was already taking over the city, shrouding it with its dark hue. Several cars stood at the entrance of the hospital. Elder Allen and Bella boarded one, and Davis with Jessica in another.
Slowly, the car pulled away from the hospital, heading to Davis' home.

A glance at his face found his expression tense, his brow furrowed, his jaw tightened, his eyes staring into the distance, lost in thought.
Not comfortable with this silent Davis, Jessica sighed as she reached out her hand, taking his hand gently. "Why are you frowning since you were about to leave the hospital? What was the message you received?" Davis took a deep breath, massaged his throbbing brow, his frustration evident in the roughness of his hand on his pressed temple.
Davis sighed and pulled her closer to him; he handed her his phone without saying anything. He couldn't say anything at the moment.
Jessica sighed as she quickly entered her birthday to unlock his phone. With a slide, his mailbox cinto view. Jessica quickly scanned through the mail.
Her gaze lifted to meet his. "Isn't it just a business summit? Why is your face as though you are owed a billion bucks?" she teased.
"Don't you think it cat the wrong time?" he asked, his gaze staring straight into the distance.
"Well, I didn't see any wrong tin this summit. As a matter of fact, it cat the right and most proper time." Davis chuckled at her choice of words. "Right and most proper time?" Jessica raised a brow. "What do you think then?" Davis offered no comment but simply shrugged.
"I think it will bring the Allen Group to the forefront of the business elite who are willing to cooperate to take their groups to greater heights," Jessica analyzed.
Davis wanted to give his reasons, but she placed her index finger over his lips. He let his tongue slide over it playfully, and she quickly withdrew her hand and glared at him.
Taking a breath, she continued, "Besides, it is not a summit that happens annually but in five years, meaning if you miss it now, you have to wait for the next five years. It is not worth missing." Davis nodded. "That's true, but then my wife is heavy at the moment, and it is not advisable to leave her behind, and at the moment, she can't travel with me." He paused briefly. "Don't you think it is wrong?" "You have a point, but then, Mr. Davis Allen, can you pursue business for a moment? You need that money to maintain this beautiful lady here." she teased.
Davis kept silent for a while. He wanted to attend this business summit, especially with their intention of working on the blueprint in their hand, but with Jessica's situation, he shook his head. "I will wait and attend the next one," he decided.
Jessica pouted her lips. Though she was happy he was worried about her, Davis had to step into the limelight through this summit. The business circle had undergone schanges through the tfrom five years ago till now.
Being out of the circle for another five will definitely have an effect on him in the future and might even relegate him to the background.
She took a deep breath. "Hubby, can you consider this for us?" "Baby, there is nothing to consider. Until you give birth, there is no need forto travel out of the country," he said decisively.
Jessica sighed. "When I am still two months away, someone is already anxious. The business summit is just for five days. Besides, with the advancement of technology, we can still keep in touch. But it seems you don't want to consider my..." "Baby, can you stop!?" His voice was several decibels high and stern that the driver narrowly avoided stepping on the brake. "Don't make this seem like a do or die affair." Jessica flinched, her eyes reddened. She moved away from him and recoiled closer to the other end of the seat, her gaze outside the window as she watched the scenery blur past.
Davis watched her closely for a moment, and after a deep breath, he leaned his head on the armrest and closed his eyes in contemplation, yet his thought was restless.
Seeing her unhappy had always been a taboo for him.
After a few minutes, the convoy slowly pulled into Davis' home. Deborah stepped out of the house in the company of other staff members to welcthe old man.
Jessica opened the other side of the car and stepped out. While Davis was of the car, he hoping to help herlo found her already leaving. He shook his head helplessly.
Closing the car door, he followed her, calling her, but she paid no mind Surprising was the fact that her footsteps were so fast that Davis felt fear of her falling. Pulling her into an embrace while she was closer to the entrance, "Are you really givingthe cold shoulder?" "Davis, let go," she said sternly.
"If I let you go, who do I hold on to?" he teased.
"Davis, for the sake of God, let...go..." Davis took a deep breath and released her hand.
Jessica spun around on her heels and stormed into the house, her chest heaving in anger.
Davis stood rooted at the sspot. He turned around and left.
Taking the car key from the driver, he zoomed off from the compound without any guard, leaving Bella, Grandpa Allen, and guards confused.
With the sound of the car pulling away from the compound, Jessica walked over to the window only to see the tail end lights of the car. She rubbed her temples in frustration. "I really lost it." She pulled her phone and dialed the guards downstairs, who were stumped as to what to do. "Follow him and make sure not even a hair of his was lost."
