Chapter 362: Have I just been plotted against? Driving out of the estate, Davis rolled down the window, letting the cool night breeze sweep into the car, gently kissing his face.
His mind was a storm of scattered thoughts of confusion, restlessness and uncertainty.
He didn't know exactly what to think or what to believe anymore, but at that moment, one thing was crystal clear and certain: he needed to cool his head and think straight.
With that decision, he decided to take a trip to the club. It had been a long tsince he visited this club.
With a swift turn, he headed towards The Emperor's club.
This had been a place he frequented when he previously when the accident hadn't happened.
As his sleek black car glided into the parking lot of the upscale club, coming to a smooth stop, Davis stepped out of the car as the valet rushed forward.
Without a word, he tossed the keys to him and walked toward the entrance, taking a few stairs before the revolving doors swallowed his tall figure.
Behind the quiet door was a busy and bustling atmosphere. The sound from the loudspeaker reverberated through the entire down floor as dancers twirled their waists to its rhythm.
The multiple neon club lights swirling above added a charm of lust and intoxication to the scene. Davis paused lightly sfeet away as he took in the scene.
He would have preferred settling down at the bar corner, in the shadows, to have a good drink, but the thought of being hit on annoyed him and for another reason he wouldn't want to take the risk.
With decisive steps, he took the stairs, carefully avoiding several ladies who stood by the railings of the staircase in search of companions and attention.
Even at this moment, he had one clear rule: have no contact with the opposite sex.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtTo put it simply, he found it disgusting. And more than anything, he didn't want Jessica's hypersensitive nose catching another woman's scent, the turmoil of the moment is already enough.
As he strolled up, his gaze was cold and his eyes unfathomable that none of the girls had the courage to approach.
As he climbed, he noticed a guard following him discreetly. He had always known the Shadow Guards would definitely follow him as per Jessica's orders to always go with him at all times to ensure his safety.
Other days, he never minded their presence, but today he felt different. He wanted this quiet tto himself and only by himself. The major reason, he had left the estate without them.
Taking a deep breath, he decided to throw them off his trail.
With hurried steps, he took several turns of the hallway, perfectly blending into the sea of people yet carefully avoiding their touch that by the tthey could pinpoint him, he had disappeared from their line of sight.
Taking a glance back and not seeing them. A rare, quiet smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. "Perfect." He murmured as felt he really needed to pat himself on the back for his brilliance.
He paused briefly at the end of the dimly lit hallway as he dusted off the invisible dust on his suit and then moved on towards his target, his private box.
He soon arrived at a door, his old private box always reserved all year round but since his accident it had not been used.
Though before his accident, the renewal had been made for three years in advance, a reason why it was still kept in reserve.
With a push, the door creaked open, and the lounge cinto view, bathed in a warm glow of the neon lights as it illuminated the room in several hues.
He stepped inside and carefully settled down on the plush sofa. He pulled out his phone, his gaze resting on the wallpaper with a picture of a lady with her hand gently resting on her baby bump.
He shook his head with a helpless sigh.
He was about to put the phone away but it dinged with a new notification, with a swipe of his thumb across his phone screen, it was from Ethan.
He had sent a new document with details of the summit, the schedules, and attendants. Also attached was his letter of acknowledgment to attend.
Davis felt a headache coming. His first instinct was to call Ethan and ask him to cancel every arrangement, but he hesitated.
He made a decision to explain to Jessica clearly with the hope that after she had calmed down, she would understand his reason for not attending.
With his resolution clear, he shut the phone off. He wanted to rest.
Resting his head on the armrest, he closed his eyes. The next moment, there was a knock on the door followed by a pause. "Cin," he said.
The door creaked open as a figure of a young lady stepped in, carrying a tray with a bottle of wine and a cup. Davis opened his eyes to see the intruder, but his gaze narrowed as it settled on a young beautiful lady, too beautiful to be a casual server.
Her apricot eyes, almost similar to that of the lady at hstared at him unwavering and focused.
A mixed unfamiliar scent drifted through the air as she approached yet Davis wasn't able discern the sort of fragrance it was.
Unlike Jessica's natural aroma. It made his stomach churn, with a slight wave of nausea.
She stepped into the room fully and walked over to the table to place the drink.
As she bent down to place the drink on the table, her cleavages and breasts lay bare under the thin transparent fabric, a tempting and inviting sight.
Davis expression twisted with disgust. He opened his mouth to send her out, she stood up carefully as though she hadn't done anything abnormal.
Her lips curled up in a sly smile, her dimples softening her forwardness.
"Should I pour the drink since you don't have anyone with you?" she smirked.
"Just leave. I don't want to see you again or you might have to regret it." His voice was so icy that the girl felt chills crawling over her body despite the warm room.
The young lady took a deep breath and walked towards the door, yet she paused slightly as Davis had not made a move to open the drink.
Meanwhile, Davis had his head lowered as he pressed his throbbing temples, sign of dizziness clouding his senses, his eyes getting blurry. The alarm bells blared in his head ~Something is off.
He took a deep breath, closing his eyes briefly but the next moment he noticed a hand crawling along his arm seductively.
He stretched out his hand to grab the hand but noticed how feminine and cool it was compared to the hotness crawling under his skin.
Another wave of dizziness hit him as his body gets hotter by the second, and he felt his body groaning with desire.
With the symptoms clearer, he drew a conclusion ~he was drugged.
His head spinning with thoughts, he continuously schooled himself to maintain a clear direction of thinking to find a way of the mess. Since their purpose was to arouse his sexual desire, he did the opposite. He aroused his painful past.
His days in the wheelchair? His accident? The mocking glare of several faces of the people around him.
While he battles to steer his thoughts away from the heat and desire, her sultry voice spoke by his side. You don't have to resist me. We... can....
actually... have... a good ttogether. Just in this box, no interruptions... you and... I." Davis clenched his hands subtly as his mind swirled with thoughts.
"Have I just been plotted against?" Who really had the guts? "A competitor?" "A family member or is it Aaron?" "The Louis family or Vera?" Do they still hope I will fail? What is the purpose? Possibly to get a hand on an indecent photo for blackmail? Or is it to make her misunderstand and leave? Or possibly destroy the image I had taken so much tand dedication to build? Do they still think I am still that easy to manipulate? They lie.
Slowly, he detached the young lady's hand from his arm and held on to her fingers, his fist fightening over it that she felt her fingers might be crushed, His motive was clear: keep her hand away from him, don't let go to find out who paid for the job.
"Ouch! Can you let go? You will break my fingers?" she screamed, but her next words died in her throat when he spoke.
"Not too early beauty. Didn't you say you wanted the night with no interruptions?" Davis smirked.
