Chapter 175
Vince raised his glass. "The one in a bad mood has left. I'm in a good mood-why not have a drink? Care to join
me?"
He might only be Yates's brother-in-law in name, but the gesture still deserved
srespect.
Yates clinked his glass against Vince's.
Setting his drink down, Vince asked, "Did you mention it to Timothy?"
"I did. He didn't refuse, but he didn't agree, either. Still, he accepted your proposal, which pretty much means
he's on board. You're in luck-Timothy's wife showed up at just the right moment tonight. By the way, how do you
know her?"
"My old man's got a thing for collecting paper cuttings. To keep him happy, the owner of a framing shop
introducedto Timothy's wife."
"So, you wanted to meet her just to buy her paper cuttings? Even in a place like this?"
Yates swirled the wine in his glass.

"I'd just finished meeting a client and had to see you guys after, so | couldn't get away. She seemed eager to
sell, so | asked the framing shop owner to bring her straight here. Honestly, though-lettell you-her paper
cutting skills are something you see maybe once in a century."
Yates chuckled. "Coming from you, that's high praise. You sure you're not just saying that because she's
Timothy's wife?"
"Givescredit. My old man's not fooled by just anything. I've spent the better part of a year hunting
down paper cutting art for him-my eye for quality is practically professional by now."
Yates mulled it over. Why was Timothy's wife in such a hurry to sell?
Things were getting more interesting by the minute...
Jessica only snapped out of it when Timothy half-carried her into the elevator. She tried to wriggle free, but he
ignored her.
When they reached the car, Secretary Allen hurried over to open the door. Timothy bundled Jessica inside and
told Allen to drive them back to The Gilded Whisper Estates.
Jessica stared out the window the entire ride.
Timothy didn't say a word.
The tension in the car was suffocating; Secretary Allen gripped the steering wheel, feeling like he was sitting on
needles.
Finally, they reached The Gilded Whisper Estates. Once the car was parked, Allen practically fled.
Jessica pushed open the car door.
Timothy got out after her.
But instead of heading inside, Jessica marched straight toward the front gate.
Timothy pressed his tongue to his cheek, shut the car door, and quickly caught up to her, grabbing her slender
wrist as she strode away.
Jessica's eyes were cold. She tried to shake him off, but he tightened his grip on her shoulders, refusing to let her
go.
He lifted his eyes, gaze dark and intense. The iciness in them softened, replaced by something even deeper.
"If | didn't cto find you, would you really never have cback? Even if you had nowhere to go, not a penny
to your name?"
In the narrow space between them, Jessica raised her hand. "You cto find me. Even if you hadn't, | wouldn't
have cback. Timothy, | want a divorce."

Timothy's eyes turned pitch black, a cold smile twisting his lips. "So, when Herbert let you down, you turned to
Vince. | never knew you kept such a close eye on my business-knew Vince had the guts to go against me."
His grip loosened just enough for Jessica to break free. She signed, "You're overthinking it."
Timothy stood beneath the porch lights, his handsface half-illuminated, the
kind that could make anyone's heart skip a beat.
But Jessica's heart was beyond reach now.
"Fine. Maybe | am overthinking. So tellwhy did you go to Vince?"
"My business is none of yours."
Jessica knew if Timothy found out she was selling paper cuttings, he'd just cut off another one of her escape
routes.
And Vince seemed to be on friendly terms with him-he could find out with a single question.
still, she refused to tell him.
Just then, a pair of blinding headlights swept across the driveway.
