Chapter 299
"Whatever it is, if you ever need us Kaufmans in the future, Dr. Henderson, Jude and | will do all that we can,"
Joel said as he got up from the ground.
"I'd like to visit my brother now. When his condition is completely stable, I'll be sure to thank you officially."
Then, he bowed deeply at Yolanda once more.
"Go ahead. We need to go, too." Yolanda glanced at Gavin and saw the storminess on his face slowly subsiding.
"The paperwork is all done. Riley is there at the bedside with him. We can leave now."
"Okay."
Yolanda searched on her phone for street food nearby as she left the hospital.
"There's a pretty good kebab shop on the next street."
She had always liked street food in her previous life, but she rarely had the opportunity to get it.
Now that she had becYolanda-the-ordinary-student, it was a lot more convenient for her to do so.

"Let's walk there then."
Gavin looked at the shop's location and figured it impractical for a car to pass through such a narrow street.
"Sure, what do you feel like eating? Chicken kebab? Mutton kebab?"
Nowadays, with the help of technology, even street food eateries allowed customers to place their orders ahead
of time.
Yolanda and Gavin walked side by side on the sidewalk outside the hospital as they ordered food on their
phones.
"They also have nacho dips here in this shop. Let's have one of those, too."
Gavin wasn't interested in these. He also didn't like street food like kebabs.
After thinking for a while, he asked Yolanda, "Are there mains there?"
"Hmm, letsee." Yolanda scrolled through the menu. "There's quesadillas, pasta, burritos and many more."
"Geta quesadillas then." Gavin had just finished speaking when he abruptly stopped in his tracks.
Yolanda had also felt the change in the atmosphere.
"Something's happening," Gavin said with a low voice before exchanging a look with Yolanda.
The both of them wordlessly ran toward the dark alley on the next street simultaneously. As soon as they moved,
a dozen shadows followed after them.
Once Yolanda and Gavin entered the alleyway, they stopped.
The alleyway they were at wasn't as wide as the main street, but at least they wouldn't cause injuries to
innocent passersby if they were to fight there.
However, those who were following them thought that the two of them were trying to run away and were trying
to catch up to them quickly.
"Wanna run away? Not so fast."
The middle-aged man who was leading them barked an order, and the men in black surrounded Yolanda and
Gavin in a tight-knit circle.
"They didn't look like people from the Serpent Alliance," Yolanda whispered.
"Looks more like Riverdale's underworld forces instead."
They thought about how they had not crossed any alliances other than the Serpent Alliance enough recently for
them to send people to seek revenge on them. If that was the case, it could only be from what happened today
with Andy. "You've crossed someone. We're just following orders to teach you a lesson." Their leader was Seth,
one of Jack's men.
Yolanda didn't understand why people always had to nag a lot before they started fighting.
Why couldn't they just act on it to get it over and done with quickly?
She didn't want to know their purpose, but all she wanted to do was finish them so she could get on with having
dinner.
If they continued to drag on like that, the kebabs were really about to be supper at that point.
It was a steep price to pay for causing Yolanda to skip dinner, so she didn't even give Seth a chance to bark his
orders. She went right in and dived into fighting the men in black all around her.
Gavin also helped Yolanda take care of the men in black who were further from her without needing her to say a
word.
In less than five minutes, other than Yolanda and Gavin, Seth was the only other person standing in the alleyway.
