"Vivian, are you there?" a voice called out from the outside the cubicle. "Is
something wrong?"
Vivian stood up and gingerly opened the door. When she saw that it was just Alma Watts, she rushed forward
and hugged her friend.
"Hey," Alma said nervously. "Why are you crying?"
"Alma, Marcelo and Renee...He...He is with her now..." The words spilled out of Vivian in between her choked
sobs.
She couldn't bring herself to use the word "married."
If she did, it was as good as admitting that she was a third party who was out to ruin their relationship.
In a way, Vivian was glad that Marcelo and Renee had refrained from announcing their marriage to the public.
Alma breathed a sigh of relief when she heard this. "It's not a big deal. You've been gone for several years, so
Marcelo must have felt lonely. He is a man with needs, it's understandable for him to seek physical comfort from
other women. And whom better to get it from than an attractive woman with no family background? Don't worry
about it, I'm sure that Marcelo has no feelings for Renee."
"Really? You're not just saying that, are you?"Vivian gripped Alma's hand as if it were a lifeline.
Alma nodded. She really didn't believe that Marcelo loved Renee.
"Why would | lie to you? Things are different now. Renee is no longer the
prominent figure she once was. How can Marcelo possibly fall for her? She's just his plaything, nothing more."
"But...They are still together..."
"They'll break up sooner or later. Con, even a good number of married couples get divorced every year."
Vivian blinked as the realization dawned on her. That was right, married couples could still get divorced. She was

So now, she just needed that divorce to happen.

Meanwhile, Renee was looking around the hall. "Didn't Damian ctoday?" she asked Marcelo.
His face instantly darkened. "Why are you asking about another man?"
Renee was already dozing off and failed to notice the shift in his mood.
She explained, "Didn't he cto the Venus Bar with Jason that night? | had intended to hang out with him some
more. He's fun."
She had enjoyed playing dice with Damian. Unfortunately, both Damian and Jason were busy today and couldn't
come.
"I'm fun, too,"Marcelo declared as he squeezed Renee's delicate hand between his. His voice deepened when he
added,
"We can go hright now, and you can do anything you want with me. Tieup, | won't mind."
Renee immediately pulled her hand
out of his grip and covered his mouth her eyes wide with alarm "What do you think you're saying? Can't you read
the room?"
Did he have a penchant for talking dirty in public?
Marcelo shrugged nonchalantly. "What does it matter? We are all adults here."
Renee blinked at him, speechless and indignant. He had a point, though.
Knowing he had her, Marcelo smirked and pinched her cheek.
Renee acted too slowly, and when she swatted his fingers away, they left a print
on her face. It was all too easy to leave a mark on her soft skin.
A cluster of socialites was loitering nearby, seemingly chatting with each other.
In truth, they were keeping a close eye on Renee and Marcelo. At this moment, they were equally confused and
shocked by the couple's exchange.
They wondered why Marcelo broke away from Vivian and approached Renee instead.
They wondered what Renee and Marcelo were talking about.
Appalled, they discovered that Renee had dared to place her hand on Marcelo, and were even more astonished
that he was not offended by her actions.
It was all so strange.
After their brief banter, Renee was no longer sleepy. Something else occurred to her.
"Have you forgotten something, Marcelo?" When he said nothing, she kindly reminded him, "You still owe me
fried chicken and milk tea."
Ah, that. So much had happened
since, and Marcelo had forgotten

"I'll take you out to eat -eat after
the party. He was easygoing like
that when it cto her.
But Renee had already made a decision.
"I'm not in the mood for fried chicken. Let's have barbecue instead."
Her words invoked the vision of smoke billowing toward him and getting into his
clothes and hair. Marcelo frowned. "Barbecue causes cancer."
"Nonsense. People also say that you'd get heart diseases from milk tea. It's all fake news." Renee narrowed her
eyes and pouted.. "Don't try to wriggle your way out of your promise, Marcelo. Have you forgotten how you
madescream until my throat hurt last night you have to make it up to me."
Marcelo lowered his head and laughed for a brief minute.
The onlookers were further taken aback.
They rarely saw Marcelo King smile but here he was, laughing.
What had Renee done to him?
