Chapter 1408: Who could stay calm with that kind of news? Well-Marcia, for one.
She had a history of refusing teamwork and undermining others, which had long annoyed the group. But everyone kept up appearances-until the summit incident exposed her. After that, they dropped the pretense, and she was completely ostracized.
Marcia was well aware of what awaited her back in Lyhaton-harsh criticism, maybe even termination. She'd already resigned herself to it.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWhen she saw everyone discussing the bonuses in the group chat, she sneered, "So excited over pocket change. Were you all beggars in your past lives?" One girl didn't hold back. "Well, we don't have your talents. You bagged Nolan, got ten million from him, and even had a complimentary police tour." Marcia had no comeback. She chose silence, knowing she was in the wrong.
After a little more than two hours, the plane touched down smoothly at Lyhaton International Airport.
Outside the terminal, Corrine parted ways with Natasha and the others, taking Kinsley and Mandy straight to the private hospital.
Vulture, upon hearing Kinsley was arriving, had worked himself into a nervous wreck. He chain-smoked nonstop, and a small mountain of cigarette butts collected at his feet.
Then, from the corner of his eye, he spotted a familiar silhouette.
He quickly stubbed out his cigarette and rushed forward.
As he neared, Corrine caught a whiff of the heavy smoke and frowned. “Did you single-handedly keep the tobacco industry alive?" Vulture winced, rubbing the back of his neck. “I... I just overdid it a little.” She gave him a look. "S'little'." He looked around anxiously. "Where's Kinsley?" "Behind me," Corrine said, turning slightly to point.
Kinsley strolled toward them, dressed in a black velvet dress with delicate lace accents at the hem and cuffs.
Her long hair fell freely behind her, clipped with a sparkling diamond hairpin.
A dainty umbrella shielded her from the sun, and she looked like a graceful, elegant black swan.
Vulture stood frozen, his eyes fixed on her as she approached. When she finally reached him, she quipped, "Stop staring atlike that-as if you're falling for me."
Before she could finish, Vulture suddenly stepped forward and pulled her into a tight embrace. Kinsley blinked, stunned by the unexpected gesture.
A softness crept into her expression, and her heart began to race.
m She gently lifted her hand, about to return the hug-when Vulture abruptly let go and gave her a hearty slap on the shoulder. "Tonight, we're drinking till we drop!" Share to your friends
