Chapter 1450: At the sight of him, Dewey froze for a moment, then quickly put on a grin and rushed forward.

"Mr. Ford, perfect timing! These people-they roughedup and threwout like garbage. You've got to help me! Oh, right-letintroduce myself. I'm Dewey Holland. Corrine's father." Dewey's excitement spilled over. "Kiley was my wife, which makesyour uncle!" Believing he'd finally bridged the gap, Dewey flashed a smile, staring at Jules with hopeful eyes.

Jules let out a dry laugh. "Uncle, you?" The words dripped with scorn.

Dewey's grin faltered, the brightness in his expression dimming as he took in the coldness on Jules' face.

There was no warmth in Jules' eyes-only a cold, cutting stare. Disoriented, Dewey asked warily, "Maybe there's skind of misunderstanding between us?" He knew full well he had left Corrine behind and figured the Ford family still held a grudge for that.

But back then, he hadn't known the Ford family was the richest in Lyhaton-if he had, he would've never surrendered Corrine's custody or let them take her from him.

Jules took another long drag, smoke curling around his face and veiling it in a gray haze. His voice cut through it -low, slow, and biting. “If I'm not mistaken, you left Corrine out in the cold and announced she wasn't your daughter anymore. And now you want to take it all back?" Dewey was stunned. He hadn't expected Jules to remember that moment so clearly after all these years.

He tried to move closer, stammering, but a man dressed in black stepped in front of him, his eyes cold and his stance unyielding.

"Dear nephew, it's all a huge misunderstanding!" Dewey blurted out desperately.

Reflecting on his actions, Dewey was filled with deep regret.

He had done his research and found nothing remarkable about Kiley's background. How had she turned out to be the daughter of the Ford family? When the Fords first approached him demanding Corrine, they had arrived in a rickety car, looking as if they'd cstraight from the countryside. No one could have guessed they were the wealthiest family in Lyhaton!

If anyone was to blame, it was the Fords for pretending to be nobodies. Despite their wealth and power, they had masqueraded as poor, effectively deceiving him for years.

"You all really keptin the dark," Dewey said bitterly. "Back then, it wasn't my fault for being heartless. It was Corrine who was too cruel. Who would have thought that at such a young age, she could be so malicious-pushing my current wife down the stairs and causing her to miscarry? If we hadn't gotten her to the hospital in time, it would have been a double tragedy! Can you imagine that?"

Jules let out a quiet laugh, low but sharp with chill. "Dewey, use your head. How could a young girl possibly push a grown woman?"
